Home > About SLAHA
Known as the "Voice of Hospitality" since its establishment in 1938, the St. Louis Area Hotel Association (SLAHA) is dedicated to fostering networking between member hotel properties (full and limited service) in the Greater St. Louis Area and the allied companies that provide services and products to support those hotels and their guests.
SLAHA helps facilitate communication, education and legislative action for all members. Members enjoy the opportunity to be closely involved with fellow hospitality leaders, creating a bond that can impact the industry through "one collective voice."
SLAHA is the hospitality industry's "voice" in government. SLAHA provides legislative representation on issues of importance to the lodging and tourism industry. SLAHA retains a collaborative membership with the Missouri Hotel and Lodging Association in which all SLAHA members benefit from the governmental consulting services of its registered lobbyist. SLAHA monitors legislative activity and regulatory measures at the local and state level.
The Association also works closely with the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission creating a favorable climate for visitors to the city and promoting opportunities for tourism and convention business in St. Louis. As an industry that supplies almost 83,000 jobs in the St. Louis region (generating approximately $446 million in taxes for Missouri and $245 million for St. Louis City and County*) it is imperative that industry voices be heard in regard to legislation impacting, tourism and convention business.
By making annual trips to Jefferson City, SLAHA representatives ensure that lawmakers are educated on issues that are relevant to the hospitality industry and briefed on the vital impact the industry has on the state.
SLAHA Membership provides a conduit of communications between members and other related associations, educational programs, networking opportunities and monitoring of legislative activities. The Association is also committed to the education of the hospitality industry's current and future employees. By providing mentoring opportunities and scholarships at area universities, SLAHA can help to improve the skills and training for existing and potential industry employees.
SLAHA's Management Team consists of a Board of Directors and Executive Committee working closely with an Executive Director.
